Alice Lombard DVM
Alice Lombard DVM
Dr. Alice Lombard has been practicing in southwest Washington and Oregon for more than a decade. She cares for performance horses, backyard horses, best friends, and racehorses including a decade of work at Portland Meadows racecourse. Sports medicine and reproduction are Dr. Alice’s passion, and she enjoys client relations and education in all facets of equine care.
She graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 where she remains adjunct faculty. Prior to graduation, she worked at a large referral equine practice as an emergency surgery assistant, then at the College of Veterinary Medicine in the teaching hospital while attending school. Since graduating, she has been dedicated to the care of equines and those who love them in and around Clark County and Northern Oregon for over 10 years.
Dr. Alice has sat on many committees over the years to advance and advocate for the horses, their owners and all those involved in equine activities. She served on the board of the Northwest Equine Practitioners Association for 7 years including President of the board for 3 years and was elected to rejoin the board this fall. She has been a subject matter expert for the Oregon Racing Commission’s National Uniform Medications Program, Rule Making Advisory Committee, an advisor to the Oregon Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association, and is currently a Supervisor of the Clark County Conservation District. Also, Dr. Alice feels strongly that teaching and promoting young equine veterinarians in leadership roles is critical for the horsemen, women, and horses. She is very active in the national organization American Association of Equine Practitioners. In all her roles, she is enthusiastic in participating to help make Clark County a happy healthy community for everyone and their horses.
When she is not under or behind a horse, she is probably at home enjoying the farm and family. She enjoys cooking, finding new recipes, and cultivating one of her many gardens. Dr. Alice’s husband Andrew has been a constant support and encouragement for nearly 20 years. Andrew and the wonderful newly adopted child CJ, help care for the farm including an old dog, a three-legged cat, a selection of goats, and many chickens.
Andrew Lombard
Andrew Lombard
Thrust into the horse world when he met Alice, Andrew has come a long way to feel comfortable next to a horse. Due to his day job, son, and farm, he isn’t often able to accompany Dr. Alice on farm calls these days, and even more rarely when he does, he provides more value than a post you can tie a horse to. All joking aside, Andrew really is more of a rock – both for Dr. Alice and Eclipse Equine Veterinary. He holds down the fort and is always willing to help with a smile on his face, unless it is 2am, then he smiles less.
Andrew received his Masters of Business Administration from Washington State University in Pullman, while Dr. Alice was in Veterinary school, and he got undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Washington. This way he is always on the winning side for every Apple Cup. If Alice and Andrew could survive undergraduate and graduate school together, it was clear that they could handle most anything. After becoming foster parents, Andrew and Alice adopted their foster son CJ after three long years in foster care. CJ is an exuberant, active and fun young man who loves helping around the farm and riding his bike. Andrew is the post, or rock, that CJ and Dr. Alice circle around and are grateful for every day.
